Sweet Hostage (1975)

Sweet Hostage, released in 1975 starred a cute teenage Linda Blair and a very hot 35 year old Martin Sheen. Sheen is an escaped mental patient who comes upon Blair who is standing by her broken down car at the side of the road. He offers her a ride and after talking with her and hearing of her unhappiness at home decides to kidnap her. At first she tries to escape but eventually falls in love with him.
And whats not to love...he walks around quoting Samuel Taylor Coleridge poems, talking of Xanadu and calling himself Kubla Khan and Linda is Cristabel. Sadly, once they are finally happy and start to build a life together they are found, and things do not end well. I usually hate nicely tied up ends in movies where everyone lives happily ever after, but this time I was really hoping for that. This is definitely a tear jerker.
It was nominated for a Golden Globe for the best motion picture made for TV. I love this movie and nothing can compare to the timeless saga of Kubla Khan and Cristabel.
