Before we hit the road...

Before we get going there are a few essentials we need...like music. Whats a road trip without music? Boring is what it is, and way too quiet. So here are a few places to get some free tunes going before we get started.
Pandora
You just enter the name of a band or song and Pandora will try to figure out what your taste in music is. You can give each song a thumbs up or down and the songs will be adjusted according to that. You can register and have your own personal channel with your likes and dislikes saved. I put in the name of one group and so far everything they have chosen I like.
AOL Music
They have a huge selection of channels to choose from here. I'm testing out the rock ballads station. Hey I'm a girl, I'm allowed to like rock ballads and so far, so good. All great songs. You can rate the songs but I'm not sure if it affects what is played.
Yahoo Music Launchcast
They have a similiar format to Pandora. They try to judge your taste by the way you rate the songs they play in the channel you pick. So far they aren't too good at mind reading.
Live 365 Internet Radio
This one is different then the ones above. You pick a channel but it's actually a playlist someone sent in. You can make up your own and send it in for others to listen to.
BBC Radio
For those of you that prefer something outside the U.S. we have BBC Radio. You just gotta love those english accents.
National Public Radio
And then theres those of you that enjoy local talk stations, just enter your zip code and they will give you links to local stations.
Air America
And just so no one is left out we have Air America, for those who prefer political discussions to music.
Slacker
Pretty big selection of channels and you can mark the songs you do and don't like. You can skip up to 6 songs per channel each hour. They played good music though so I didn't need to use the skips, but I did anyway just to see what happens if you try to skip 7 songs. You just get a message telling you to upgrade for unlimited skips.
US Live Radio
They list and link to over 2500 live streaming radio stations around the United States. Just enter your zip code and they will give you links to the stations in your area with live streaming music.
